Gwaelod-y-Garth end of year show saw 59 children taking part in songs, dialogues and a play to showcase their learning to their families and friends.
Infants had been learning all about the Cafe, ordering sandwiches and drinks and exchanging greetings and money. The year 2s showed us their verbal skills by doing dialogues between a waiter and a customer, and singing “J’aime la baguette” with the younger infants. Year 1 and Derbyn recited the little rhyme of “Toc Toc Toc Monsieur Pouce” showing us their use of verbs of sleeping, eating, drinking and coming out. They also sang with year 2 “Au cafe du Club Francais” and describe what they drink and eat there.
Juniors had been learning all about the Calendar, days of the week, months, seasons, clock, weather, and lots of action verbs to put together a play of “La Belle au Bois Dormant” (sleeping beauty). While older Juniors had more acting and speaking roles, younger juniors were leading the songs of “La pluie tombe, tombe, tombe…”, telling the time, “Le facteur n’est pas passe”, “Sur mon grand calendrier”, the rap of the seasons… They even learnt the sleeping beauty song in French! This was a fabulous play by all and the standard was very high!
Well done to all the children who took part! and thank you to all the parents and the staff of Gwaelod-y-Garth primary for their support.
